Monday March 12 to Friday March 16, 2012




Join us for 5 days, or even just one day, of March Break Camp fun riding and learning activities! Cost: $300 for the entire week or $60 a day. (Note in the descriptions below that there are prerequisites for some of the days.)
MONDAY
Flat work – How to properly warm up and cool down; work on halts, half halts, serpentines, turns, and simple lengthening and shortening of stride will be covered in the morning and continuing in the afternoon at the faster paces and some grid work will be introduced.
TUESDAY
Jumping – Monday is a prerequisite, approach to fences of different types and simple training techniques for you and your horses will be covered in the morning. We will use course in the afternoon to use our new skills.
WEDNESDAY
Carriage Driving – Learn to harness and drive a simple carriage. We will do a simple round of the arena and simple turns in the morning and cone driving (this is the dressage part of the carriage driving competitions) in the afternoon .
THURSDAY
Dressage – Use your Monday skills to work on individual skills for the tests in the morning and ride a simple dressage test in the afternoon. There is no prerequisite but Mondays skills will be required – the dressage test will be sent to you when you register so that you can learn it on the ground (this is usual for dressage tests - you learn the test first).
FRIDAY
Combination of flat skills learned in the morning - Jumping in the afternoon
Note: This is the time to try different horses, even if it’s just 15 mins after a session; fences will be set to your level of riding (little ones first and they go up from there )
Ponies - we will also work with the pony yearlings each day.
